CareerMap

Make informed career decisions

A career information platform for econometrics students and graduates. It explains sectors, roles, and projects in the quantitative, data, and finance space. It also lists companies, vacancies, and events to help you navigate your options.

Structure

The platform is organised around six building blocks. Together they cover what you need to research a career. Click any card to learn more.

Principles

01

Specific to you

Every sector profile, company description, and piece of context is written with the econometrics degree in mind. Not general career advice adapted after the fact.

02

Aimed to inform

Options are described as they are. If a path is competitive or uncertain, that’s in the description. The goal is to give you what you need to decide, not to persuade you.

03

Written simply

Every topic is explained as if you have never heard of it. Sector guides, company profiles, and background articles use the same standard: clear enough that someone new to it can follow.

I study econometrics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and I am the founder of CareerMap.

Pieter Maarse - Founder of CareerMap

Having talked to many fellow students, I realised that only few know what they want to do after their studies, and even fewer know about all possibilities. Even though there were already ways to find relevant jobs, these apparently did not give students enough information.

Because I believe making well-informed career choices is important, and I figured this problem was solvable, I started researching and made CareerMap.
